Love Yourself, Girl…

So, last month was all about loving your significant other and loved ones. I love love (Smiley, blushy face). It was a good month. But, as women, we often neglect ourselves while we care for, nurture, and love on others.

Some of us go throughout our entire lives like this. Others wake up one day and realize that if we do not take care of ourselves, we are not being all we can for the others in our lives who need us. I mean, there’s the saying: “When mommy’s happy, everybody’s happy.” Better yet: “Happy wife, happy life.” There’s some truth to these statements.
Here are some tips to help you love yourself (just a little more):

1. Get Nails/Hair Done

Go on and treat yourself. When you look good, you feel good. It’s amazing how some simple things like painting nails, or changing your hairstyle can add confidence and make you feel good.

2. Go out for frozen yogurt

Ok, so we all have fitness goals. But if you go out for ice cream or frozen yogurt every once in awhile, it will not hurt. Everything in moderation. Go on and try some creamy deliciousness, and don’t forget the toppings! 🙂

3. Take a trip

Think about this one. One of the best things to spend money on is experience. Americans only take half of their paid vacation time, if that!! So, plan a trip and just make it happen. Maybe you’ll learn something new, try a new dish, learn about a new culture, and just get away from your email and work phone. Most likely, you’ll come back refreshed and ready to tackle your job like you were a newbie again. Or, worse case scenario, you won’t want to go back :/

4. Buy it

You know that thing you’ve been looking at? The shoes? That purse? That phone? You’ve been holding out on buying something. But, if you can afford it, buy it. You’ll be happier you did. Especially, if you’ve been holding out on something, just for the sake of doing it… You know who you are.

5. Take Some Time Off

I will say it again. Americans only use about half of their paid vacation time. What’s that about?! That job/career will be there next week. They will definitely need you. Understand that if you work too hard and get sick for whatever reason, the company will send you or your family something. And, they’ll also fill your position with someone else. So, do everyone a favor and just take off.

Bonus…

6. Try Something New/Different

Trying something new can not only give us a new perspective on things, but it can also trigger the release of feel good chemicals in the brain. In turn, we feel good and treat others well. Try ballroom dancing, rock climbing, a cooking class, anything of interest. Go ahead. Take a chance.

You owe it to yourself. Love you. Be you. Be amazing. <3
